Inspired Lake Austin contemporary asks $3.3M

Waterfront home with an aspirational bent

2409 Westlake Drive
Via Kuper Sotheby’s International Realty

“Aspire,” the name given to a large, recently built contemporary on—or, rather, floating over—Lake Austin, is apt. The sublimely designed home is aspirational on many levels, and not all of them related to status. With its Banksy-referencing bathroom and carefully chosen quotations on the walls, repurposed and sustainable building materials, and wellness-oriented layout and amenities, it aspires to inspire—aesthetically, spiritually, and ecologically.

Facing a wide bend in the river, the 3,211-square-foot house has a covered, waterfront deck that runs the width of the open living and kitchen area, connected by sliding window walls and covered with patterned clay tile. The two-story house features loads of reclaimed and repurposed materials, including century-old ceiling beams from an Amish community in Pennsylvania and 200-year-old, green-kilned flooring. Walls are American clay, and the most of the wall and floor tile throughout the home is from Spain.

Vanguard Studios was the architect for the home, which also features selenite, rose quartz, and shungite, all thought to have various beneficial properties, adding to the California-style vibe of the place. Continuing the theme, the master bedroom features an installation of half-round pine configurations laid piece by piece intended to create a meditative space with a connection to water. The spa-like master bathroom includes an an infrared sauna among its amenities.

The two-story house has three bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms and features high, beamed ceilings, recessed lighting, and two fireplaces. The open kitchen has granite-marble counters, a breakfast bar, a central island, and a walk-in pantry.

Located at 2409 Westlake Drive in the gated Orleans Harbor community, the home includes access to amenities such as a pool and cabana, a built-in outdoor kitchen, and lake access. Homeowner association fees are $475 per month. The listing is held by Tarek Morshed of Kuper Sotheby’s International Realty.
